From Sons of Anarchy to The Walking Dead

Ryan Douglas Hurst has carved out an impressive career in Hollywood. He progressed from early character work to some of the most famous parts in modern television and video games. Now he is taking on one of the most legendary characters in gaming history.

Hurst was born on June 19, 1976, in California. His family has a strong connection to the entertainment industry. His father, Rick Hurst, was a character actor best known for The Dukes of Hazzard. The mother, Candace Kaniecki, is an acting coach. Hurst made his professional debut in 1993 with Saved by the Bell: The New Class, soon garnering expertise in television and cinema ventures.

Hurst started his career with great supporting roles in blockbuster films like Saving Private Ryan (1998) and We Were Soldiers (2002). He did this before getting a memorable performance as Gerry Bertier in the sports drama Remember the Titans (2000). His major success came with the FX series Sons of Anarchy (2008-2012). On that show, he played Opie Winston, earning him a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor. Hurst continues to enhance his television profile with noteworthy performances as “Beta” in The Walking Dead and “Lil Foster” in The Outsiders.

Hurst has been cast as Kratos in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming God of War live-action version. Doing this brought one of gaming’s most iconic figures to the screen. This leap from voice acting to portraying a franchise’s renowned protagonist represents a huge step forward in his career. It has already stirred excitement among fans.

Off camera, Hurst’s life combines artistic enthusiasm and spiritual exploration. He married Molly Cookson in 2005, and the two co-founded Fast Shoes Productions, a production firm focused on creative cooperation. Hurst’s personal journey involves converting to Sikhism and taking the name Gobind Seva Singh, which he describes as expressing his spiritual views and identity.
