The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for allegedly plotting to assassinate a chief in the Eastern Region.

The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were picked up during an intelligence-led operation that uncovered their plan to eliminate the chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar, scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.

According to the police, Emelia Akua Asor offered GH₵50,000 to undercover officers to kill the chief and another woman who was to be installed as Queen Mother. She also instructed her accomplice, Butuakwa Seth, to help identify the residences of the intended victims.

During the operation, Butuakwa Seth led officers to the homes of the targets and provided a photograph of the chief to aid the planned attack. The suspects allegedly promised an additional GH₵50,000 after the crime was carried out.

Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned soon.

The Eastern South Regional Police Command assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, especially traditional leaders in the region.
