Former fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court for her role in a widely publicized fraud and charlatanic advertising scheme.

The conviction stems from a 2022 televised broadcast where Nana Agradaa, using her Today-TV platform and social media, promised to “double” money for anyone who attended an all-night service at her Heaven Way Champion International Ministry in Weija, Accra. She claimed to possess supernatural powers and encouraged attendees to bring large sums of cash with the assurance of miraculous financial returns.

Thousands responded to the call, with six complainants featured in the case. Victims came from all over Ghana, giving up significant amounts of money based on the deceptive promises. None of the promised returns ever materialized.

According to the prosecution, the scheme was a well-planned fraud, involving systematic deception by Agradaa and alleged accomplices, all under the guise of religious ritual.

“The accused successfully demanded and received huge sums of money from some members of the public who attended the said all-night service,” prosecutors stated.

The court described her actions as calculated and harmful, preying on vulnerable individuals seeking spiritual and financial help.

As per Ghanaian legal procedure, Nana Agradaa underwent a mandatory pregnancy test prior to sentencing. With the result coming back negative, the court proceeded to deliver the 15-year sentence.

Her case has sparked national debate about religious fraud, accountability, and the dangers of unchecked spiritual influence.
