Ghanaian rapper Medikal is facing a wave of public backlash following a controversial incident during a recent performance at Evandy Hostel, University of Ghana, where he was captured on video appearing to touch a female fan’s buttocks on stage. The footage, which quickly went viral, has sparked widespread criticism and reignited conversations around consent and conduct by public figures.

The video shows Medikal, born Samuel Adu Frimpong, pulling a female fan closer while performing. In the now widely circulated clip, he appears to tap or touch her backside — a gesture many viewers have deemed inappropriate, especially considering the young audience present.

The incident drew swift condemnation on social media, with users labeling the act as “disrespectful” and “unnecessary.” Hashtags like #RespectBoundaries, #MedikalOnStage, and #AccountabilityInEntertainment began trending on X (formerly Twitter) as the conversation gained momentum.

In response to the criticism, Medikal took to Snapchat and other social platforms to address the controversy. Brushing off the allegations of sexual harassment, the rapper simply stated:

“Nonsense! Stop blowing things out of proportion. You people just dey find something to talk about.”

His blunt reaction has drawn mixed responses — while some fans defended him, saying the incident was taken out of context, others felt his dismissive tone only added fuel to the fire. Critics argue that a public figure of his stature should approach such situations with more responsibility, especially when issues of consent are involved.
