President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the long-delayed Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua, promising the chiefs and people of the region that the project will be prioritized under his next administration.

Speaking during a community engagement in Koforidua on Thursday, Mr. Mahama assured residents that healthcare delivery in the region would receive urgent attention. “The Koforidua Regional Hospital remains a vital project, and I am fully committed to seeing it completed to serve the people of the Eastern Region,” he said.

The hospital project, which began under his previous administration, has faced multiple delays due to funding challenges and contractual issues. Many residents have since expressed frustration over the pace of work, with access to comprehensive health services in the region remaining limited.

Mr. Mahama also pledged to continue all viable infrastructure and social development projects initiated by the current and past administrations. However, he made it clear that contracts where payments had been made more than once to the same contractor would be reviewed. “We will not allow the misuse of public funds. Any project with double payments will be investigated and suspended,” he stated.

Traditional leaders in the region welcomed his message, urging consistency in development efforts regardless of political transitions.

As election season heats up, the completion of key infrastructure like the Koforidua hospital is expected to feature prominently in campaign promises and public discourse.
