John Mahama has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to comply with constitutional requirements and declare their assets by July 15, 2025.

On Wednesday, July 18, the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, addressed an orientation and training event for MMDCEs from throughout the country in Accra, emphasizing the significance of openness and accountability in public service.

“I wish to remind you that you are among the officeholders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets,” according to him.

According to Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, every public servant chosen to office is required to declare their assets before and after taking office.

Since taking office in January 2025, Mr Mahama has stated that asset declaration is vital to combating corruption and creating trust in public officials at all levels of government.

John Mahama has now guaranteed that all of his appointees follow the constitution by reporting their holdings.

He warned that defaulters would suffer appropriate punishment, as had certain appointees.
