A form three student at Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, identified only as Abass, has died after reportedly falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Abass, a business student who also served as the acting Boys’ Prefect, is said to have fallen during school hours, prompting students and staff to rush to his aid.
Sources within the school indicate that the deceased had allegedly been battling suicidal thoughts for some time, though school authorities were unaware of his struggles. According to individuals close to the family—including his mother, uncle and some students—Abass had previously made comments suggesting self-harm, but these were not taken seriously at the time.
He was transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Ghana Education Service has been notified, and the body has since been buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.
