American YouTube streamer and internet sensation IShowSpeed has expressed deep admiration for Ghana following a vibrant and culturally immersive visit to the country as part of his ongoing Africa t

Speed arrived in Ghana on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and was immediately introduced to the country’s rich traditions, warm hospitality, and dynamic youth culture—hallmarks that continue to position Ghana prominently on the global cultural stage. Throughout his stay, popular Ghanaian YouTuber and tourism promoter Wode Maya served as his guide, leading him through key locations, explaining cultural practices, and facilitating interactions with local communities.

His Ghanaian experience officially began on January 26 in the Eastern Region with a visit to the scenic Asenewa Waterfalls, where he enjoyed a traditional massage session designed to promote relaxation and reconnect the body with nature. Such indigenous wellness practices reflect Ghana’s holistic approach to healing, rooted in community and the natural environment.

From the waterfalls, Speed travelled to a palace in Akropong, where he was introduced to royal customs and cultural values. In a symbolic gesture of acceptance, he was given a Ghanaian name, “Berima Kofi Akufo,” traditionally reserved for males born on a Friday. The naming ceremony underscored themes of identity, belonging, and cultural inclusion. It was during this visit that Speed openly declared his love for Ghana, even suggesting he might consider owning a home in the country—comments that highlighted Ghana’s growing appeal as a welcoming destination for foreigners.

The streamer was later flown by helicopter to Accra, offering him aerial views of the country before landing in the capital. His first stop was Independence Square, a national monument symbolising Ghana’s freedom and self-determination.

He was received by popular streamer Kevthewave, alongside celebrated dancers Incredible Zigi, Dancegod Lloyd, and Afronita, who delivered energetic Azonto performances that showcased contemporary Ghanaian youth culture. In a moment that quickly went viral, Speed performed his signature backflip atop the Independence Arch beneath the Black Star, Ghana’s enduring symbol of unity and African pride.

While at the square, Speed sampled Ghanaian Jollof rice and praised its flavour. However, he sparked playful controversy online when he named Nigeria’s version as his favourite in the long-running West African “Jollof War.” The lively atmosphere continued with horse riding, racing, and drift stunts as he engaged enthusiastically with fans. His tour later took him to Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest communities, known for its historic landmarks, fishing heritage and strong boxing tradition. Speed interacted with residents, tasted local street foods and entered a boxing ring for a light-hearted sparring session. He later joined former Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku in song and dance, drawing cheers from the crowd before ending his YouTube livestream.

To unwind, Speed visited the Shea Butter Museum—the largest private shea butter museum in West Africa—where he received a traditional shea butter massage from ten women. Describing the experience as unforgettable, he praised Ghana’s indigenous beauty and wellness culture, which plays a vital role in women’s economic empowerment and ancestral knowledge.

From waterfalls and palaces to national monuments, street culture and indigenous wellness, IShowSpeed’s visit offered a vivid showcase of Ghana’s cultural depth and hospitality. Although his Africa tour continues to Namibia for its finale, his time in Ghana has clearly left a lasting impression—one that resonated with audiences far beyond the country’s borders.
