The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has announced that, effective today, it will no longer accept manual applications for program accreditation from any tertiary institution across the country.

According to GTEC, all accreditation requests must now be submitted through its dedicated online accreditation platform, in a move aimed at promoting efficiency, transparency, and faster processing times.

In a public statement, GTEC said the shift to digital applications is part of its broader reforms to modernize tertiary education governance.

“This digital transition will eliminate delays, reduce paperwork, and improve monitoring of program quality,” the Commission noted.

The online system will allow universities, colleges, and other accredited institutions to apply, track, and manage the status of their program approvals from start to finish without visiting GTEC offices physically.

Tertiary institutions are being urged to familiarize themselves with the new system and ensure they meet all technical and documentation requirements for online submission.

GTEC has also assured institutions of continuous support through help desks and training sessions to ease the transition.

The move marks a significant step toward digitizing Ghana’s higher education processes, aligning with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda.
