The Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President, has announced a temporary suspension of the Ghanaian citizenship application process for historical diasporans.
In a statement made on sunday, February 1st, the two institutions stated that the halt is meant to allow the improvements aimed at streamlining the application process, making it more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly. “The temporary suspension will provide the necessary time to refine the procedures and ensure a smoother experience for applicants once the process resumes,” the statement

The Ministry and the Diaspora Affairs Office emphasised Ghana’s continued eagerness to welcome members of the worldwide African community home while reiterating their commitment to them.
Revised dates and updated procedures for filing citizenship applications would be disseminated through official means in due course, the statement noted.
