IGP Dampare personally calms down the disorderly Spintex Road

On Monday, January 29, the public was caught off guard by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who brought order back to the notorious Spintex Road after some irresponsible drivers caused a traffic jam without notice.

The IGP had an unusual morning when he was caught in the frustrating traffic congestion on Spintex Road, which is well-known for its gridlock. Rather than exercising his power to create space by activating sirens, Dr. Dampare chose to wait calmly while he watched other drivers’ disorganized driving styles.

Many drivers tried to take shortcuts by using the shoulder of the road to get around the traffic jam, not realizing that there was a well-known passenger among them. They were shocked to see that the person they were facing was none other than the Inspector General of Police.

IGP Dampare took swift action and personally stopped several drivers who were acting recklessly. He reminded them of the significance of following traffic laws and being patient in crowded areas. One driver who had strayed from the line was told to go back to the deviation point, which is called “Shell,” and re-join the traffic from “Shell Signboard.”

The IGP gave the irresponsible driver a severe reprimand, asking, “Do you know how long the rest of us have been in the jam? Are you more hurried than we are?”

The drivers who were unprepared for the unexpected appearance of the IGP were apprehended and made to pay for their misdeeds.
