The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has underscored the importance of grassroots engagement in political leadership, stressing that effective communication in local languages will be crucial to winning the next general election.
Addressing supporters during a campaign tour in Accra on Sunday, March 29, 2026, he emphasised that connecting with voters at the community level remains a vital strategy for mobilising support and strengthening party loyalty.
According to him, language plays a central role in political outreach, and leaders must communicate in a manner that resonates with the everyday experiences of the electorate. He noted that his ability to speak Twi fluently positions him to engage directly with grassroots supporters.
Drawing on his experience as a constituency chairman, constituency executive, and now regional chairman, Chairman Wontumi said he understands the needs and expectations of party members and voters alike.
He expressed confidence that prioritising grassroots interaction and using local language communication will energise the party’s base and enhance its chances in the 2028 general election.
