Teyana Taylor’s Triumphant Golden Globe Victory: A Moment Fueled by Heart, History, and Hope
In a night already rich with glamour and golden moments, one moment surpassed them all, and it wasn’t on the red carpet. It was on the stage of the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, when Teyana Taylor claimed her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in “One Battle After Another.”
“To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight: our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.” Teyana said on stage during her acceptance speech.
Taylor triumphed over Ariana Grande (“Wicked: For Good”), Amy Madigan (“Weapons”), Emily Blunt (“The Smashing Machine”) and “Sentimental Value” stars Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for the award.
Taylor was one of multiple “One Battle” cast members nominated for Globes this year, including three-time winner Leonardo Dicaprio and breakout star Chase Infiniti.
“I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I was going to win,” Taylor, said. “Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for seeing me and reminding me that purpose always finds its moment.”
