Ghanaian gospel musician Cecilia Marfo has expressed deep admiration for fast-rising superstar Mohammed Ismail Sherif, popularly known as Black Sherif, revealing that his music carries a strong emotional weight that often moves her to tears.
Speaking in an interview, she addressed questions about her relationship with secular artistes, making it clear that she holds no grudges against musicians outside the gospel space. Instead, she enjoys songs from several mainstream acts.
Cecilia Marfo mentioned Shatta Wale, Kwabena Kwabena, and Black Sherif as some of the secular musicians she listens to. However, she reserved special praise for Black Sherif, describing him as an extraordinary talent with a rare gift for deep, impactful lyrics.
According to her, Black Sherif’s song “Soma Obi” speaks to her heart in a profound way.
“I really like that guy Black Sherif but he doesn’t know. I love his song ‘Soma Obi’ very much,” she said, adding that the song touches her spirit and sometimes brings her to tears.
