The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has released the top 20 contributors to inflation for October 2025, with food items like fufu and soup, kenkey with fried fish, herrings (smoked), plantain, and beef among the major drivers. Other contributors include cooked rice, tomato paste, vegetable oil, electricity, charcoal, accommodation, and school fees.

On Wednesday, November 5, GSS announced that Ghana’s inflation rate had fallen to 8% in October 2025, the lowest level since June 2021. This marks a tenth consecutive month of decline, down from 9.4% in September and significantly lower than the 23.8% peak recorded in December 2024.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Government Statistician Dr. Iddrisu Alhassan said the drop represents a major milestone.

“For the first time since June 2021, Ghana has achieved single-digit inflation. This means that the rate at which prices of goods and services are increasing has slowed significantly,” he said.

He attributed the decline to consistent monetary and fiscal measures stabilizing the economy and noted improvements across food, transport, and housing, while cautioning that food remains the largest contributor to overall inflation.
