Ghana’s Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has urged five distinguished Ghanaians to continue serving as global ambassadors for the nation.

The Minister made the call on October 1, 2025, during a ceremony in Accra to present diplomatic passports to five individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions in diverse fields. The recipients were travelling vlogger Wode Maya, Grammy-nominated reggae artist Rocky Dawuni, broadcaster and entrepreneur Anita Erskine, contemporary visual artist Ibrahim Mahama, and British Ghanaian entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng MBE.

In his remarks, Mr. Ablakwa said the gesture was not just a formality but a recognition of the positive impact these individuals have made in promoting Ghana on the global stage. He emphasized that their works continue to project the country’s culture, creativity, and innovation to the world.

“Keep the Black Star shining,” Mr. Ablakwa said, stressing that the honorees have become living symbols of Ghana’s pride and aspirations. He explained that by excelling in their respective fields, they have demonstrated how Ghanaian talent can compete and thrive internationally, inspiring a new generation of achievers.

The Minister also highlighted that the conferment of diplomatic passports aligns with government’s vision of acknowledging citizens who serve as cultural and creative ambassadors. He noted that their roles extend beyond their professions, as they embody the resilience and excellence associated with Ghana’s global image.

For their part, the recipients expressed gratitude to the government for the recognition. They pledged to continue working to elevate Ghana’s image and to contribute to national development through their crafts, platforms, and networks.

The presentation of diplomatic passports to Ghanaians excelling abroad and at home is part of a broader initiative to honor those who have used their influence to promote the country positively. Officials said the recognition reinforces Ghana’s commitment to celebrating its citizens who make extraordinary contributions to the arts, culture, media, business, and global advocacy.
