13 Reasons Why is a Netflix series developed by Brian Yorkey for television and was written by Jay Asher. Jay served as an executive producer with Selena Gomez.
13 Reason Why is a show which talks about mental health as struggling teens like suicide, sexual assault, drugs and alcohol. It is an emotional roller coaster for viewers based on how the stories are shown.
The show stars Dylan Minette, Katherine Langford, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Ross Butler, Justin Prentice and many other stars. They really elevated and shaped the show from how they played their roles spectacularly.
Season 1 focuses more on the protagonist Clay Jensen, and his love interest Hannah Baker who unfortunately commits suicide. After committing suicide Hannah had left 13 recordings for 13 people explaining why she killed herself. The season explains how having someone to open up to and talk to could prevent situations from escalating.
Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why, Hannah’s case has been taken to trial with the characters sharing their part of events which happened in season 1 giving more side characters a voice. A character Jessica opens up on how she was sexually assaulted by the antagonist Bryce Walker.
Season 3 is complex here Clay and his friends work together to help a Tyler who was assaulted with a broom while covering up what he almost did during a school dance. The group also help Clay while he is under scrutiny after Bryce had gone missing by police. The group are scared since their secrets lie bare during the investigation.
Season 4 opens up about the traumas of the characters and what they have been through in their high school years. Justin who is now Clay’s adopted brother dies from AID’s.
The show is a 7/10 as it loses touch.
