The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, is calling on Ghanaian businesses especially exporters to make the most of new trade opportunities opened by China.
China recently announced new trade policy changes aimed at boosting business with African countries, including Ghana. This move is part of China’s strategy to deepen economic partnerships on the continent by making it easier for African goods to enter the Chinese market.
Dr. Awusi believes this is a golden opportunity for Ghanaian exporters to grow their businesses. She encouraged local producers of goods like cocoa, shea butter, textiles, fruits, and other products to explore how they can increase their sales to China.
“These new policies mean Ghanaian products could be more welcomed in China than ever before. It’s time for our businesses to think big, meet international standards, and take bold steps towards expanding their markets,” she said.
The GFZA boss also mentioned that her office is ready to support companies looking to take advantage of these changes. She highlighted the importance of quality packaging, meeting export regulations, and staying competitive in pricing to succeed in the Chinese market.
With China being the world’s second-largest economy, tapping into this market could be a game-changer for many Ghanaian businesses. Dr. Awusi urged entrepreneurs to work closely with trade authorities, attend international fairs, and improve their production processes.
This fresh window of opportunity could mean more jobs, more income, and stronger economic growth for Ghana if local businesses act quickly and wisely
