Tottenham Sink to Historic 50-Year Low Following Shock Home Defeat to Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur has hit a new low, suffering a shocking 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday night. This loss marks the club’s 11th game without a win in the Premier League, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone as the 2025-26 season approaches its climax.

This disheartening result encapsulates Tottenham’s struggles, with the team exhibiting a glaring need for improvement. Although Dominic Solanke initially put Spurs ahead, a red card for Micky van de Ven in the penalty area shifted the momentum. Van de Ven’s dismissal allowed Palace to score from the resulting penalty, leveling the score and setting the stage for their commanding performance.

Despite a strong start, including Solanke’s opening goal, Spurs quickly faltered. Palace’s Jorgen Strand Larsen put the visitors ahead just before halftime, extending the lead with a second goal from Ismaila Sarr. Although Tottenham’s defense steadied in the second half, the damage had already been done, with Igor Tudor’s strategy facing scrutiny after leaving key players like Conor Gallagher and Xavi Simons on the bench.

Tottenham’s current plight is particularly noteworthy; the club has not experienced such a prolonged winless stretch since October 1975. Additionally, the team is on track for their first sequence of five consecutive league defeats since November 2004.

Spurs’ struggles are even more pronounced this year, with only one win in their first eleven league games — their worst start since 1935, when they failed to secure a victory in their early fixtures.

At home, Spurs have been equally unsuccessful. Over the past two seasons, they have recorded 19 losses in the Premier League, second only to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, Tottenham has amassed only 31 points at home, the lowest tally among all Premier League teams during that timeframe.

Upcoming fixtures do not offer much respite, as they prepare for a challenging Champions League matchup against Atletico Madrid, followed by a daunting Premier League trip to face Liverpool.

As Tottenham grapples with its current form, the urgency for a turnaround has never been more critical. Will they find the resolve to pull themselves out of this deepening crisis? Football fans everywhere will be watching closely.
