The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has set a new date for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2023.
The WASSCE for school candidates will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, and will end on September 26, 2023.
Furthermore, the BECE for both school and private candidates will be written concurrently this year from Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11, 2023.
WAEC announced in a statement that the approved registration fee for entry into 7 or 8 subjects is GH381.24. This figure does not include the fees for practical or oral tests, which range from GH14.50 to GH19.50 per practical test.
On the BECE for school and private candidates, the Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, Agnes Teye-Cudjoe said the council would hold briefing sessions for all stakeholders who would be involved in the registration of candidates from March 21 to 24, 2023, adding that “the registration portal for the registration of eligible candidates will be opened from Monday, March 27 to Friday, April 28, 2023”.
The WASSCE and BECE timetables were disrupted in 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the government to close schools.
