The New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has denounced the personal attacks occurring ahead of the party’s flagbearer election next month.
Kennedy Agyapong recently claimed that he bribed constituency chairmen during the superdelegates meeting, but according to Dr. Bawumia, this is a falsehood.
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Bawumia complained to delegates in the Northern Region’s Tatale-Sanguli constituency that he was hearing a lie about himself or his views every day.
He said, “I am hearing a different lie every day as I am sitting down and watching what they are saying,” and said the anonymous opponents were determined to divide among the NPP’s rank and file.
“How is this possible? I cannot prevent election organizers and polling place managers from casting their ballots. By the grace of God, they will continue to vote, he said. “This was a national conference decision, and I was quite supportive of expanding the electoral college to allow polling station executives and electoral area coordinators to vote.
The final point he made dealt with the rumored viewpoint that he supports, which is that current members of parliament should be permitted to run unopposed in the 2024 elections.

Bawumia addressed the claims of Kennedy Agyapong that the VP’s campaign had purchased some superdelegates’ votes with 100,000 cedis and pickup trucks as the first of three lies that he said had lately surfaced. “They claim that I gave every 275 constituency chairs a pick-up and a hundred thousand cedis (GHc100,000.00).
Have you noticed any pickups for your chairman around here? Vice President Bawumia continued, “This is just ludicrous fiction. In addition, Bawumia addressed the claim that he was against increasing the number of electors in the Electoral College, saying that this could not be far from the truth.
