Three suspected armed robbers have been killed in a gun battle with police following a late-night break-in at a warehouse in the Tema Industrial Area.

According to a statement from the Tema Regional Police Command, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 21, after a patrol team responded swiftly to a distress call. The report indicated that around ten armed men had forcefully entered a warehouse, prompting an immediate deployment of officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police encountered the armed suspects, which led to an exchange of gunfire. During the confrontation, three of the assailants were fatally shot. The remaining suspects reportedly fled the scene and are currently being pursued.

The police did not report any injuries to officers involved in the operation. However, they have since launched a manhunt to apprehend the other suspects and are urging the public to volunteer any relevant information.

“This swift response demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protect life and property, especially in industrial zones vulnerable to targeted attacks,” the police statement said.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased. Additionally, items believed to have been used in the attempted robbery, including weapons and tools for forced entry, were recovered at the scene.

As investigations continue, the Ghana Police Service is assuring residents and business owners in Tema of enhanced patrols and rapid response efforts to ensure safety and deter criminal activity.
