Tragedy struck on the Adukrom–Koforidua Highway in the Eastern Region when a road traffic accident involving a HOWO 371 truck resulted in the deaths of three men near the Asenema Waterfalls.
Emergency personnel from the Kpong Municipal Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) quickly responded to the scene following a distress call.
The truck reportedly overturned close to the waterfalls with its three male occupants trapped inside. Firefighters conducted rescue and extrication operations, but unfortunately, all three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies were subsequently handed over to officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service and transported to the morgue at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.
After the rescue efforts, firefighters cleared the area to ensure the safety of other motorists before returning to their station. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
