Adin Hill’s impressive performance with 32 saves helped the Vegas Golden Knights commence their Stanley Cup championship defense with a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday.
Reflecting on the game, Hill mentioned the excitement of seeing the championship banner raised before the game and the team’s readiness to begin the new season. Chandler Stephenson contributed a goal and an assist, and Mark Stone had two assists for the Golden Knights. Although Vegas initially struggled, they eventually found their stride, thanks in part to Adin’s early saves.
Jared McCann scored Seattle’s lone goal, while Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves for the Kraken. Coach Dave Hakstol acknowledged the effort but emphasized the need for improvement.

Vegas took an early lead when Chandler Stephenson scored at 7:16 of the first period, finishing a pass from Brett Howden. Jonathan Marchessault extended the lead to 2-0 at 14:57, deflecting a clearing attempt into the net.
Ivan Barbashev made it 3-0 in the second period, scoring on a breakaway. Jared McCann pulled one back for Seattle to make it 3-1.
The game concluded with Jack Eichel scoring an empty-net goal for a final score of 4-1. The Golden Knights had a busy few days, receiving their championship rings and attending “Monday Night Football” between the Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers.
