The final rites for late Black Stars midfielder Christian Atsu are currently taking place on the forecourt of Accra’s State House.

Hundreds of dignitaries have descended on the venue to pay their respects to the former Ghana international.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, Assin Central Member of Parliament, Honourable Kennedy Agyapong, Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament, Lydia Alhassan, and Honourable Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Buem, have all been spotted at the event.
Sulley Ali Muntari, John Painstil, Prince Tagoe, Samuel Osei Kuffour aka Tugah, Black Stars coach Chris Hughton, Michael Essien’s wife Akosua Puni, and many others are also present.

Atsu was killed in the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria at the beginning of February 2023.

He went missing on February 6th and was found dead two weeks later.

He left behind a wife and three children, who are currently in Ghana for his final funeral rites.
