The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will begin issuing and distributing Ghana Cards to children aged 6 to 14 years from Monday, October 6, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Williams Ampomah E. Darlias, Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, the exercise will start in 56 districts nationwide, with other districts to follow in the coming days.

The cards will be issued at the designated registration points, mainly in the schools where the children were originally registered. Parents and guardians are required to accompany their children and present either the Form A or the receipt issued on the day of registration.

The NIA assured the public that all backlogs of unprinted Ghana Cards have now been cleared, paving the way for a smooth and efficient distribution process.

The authority also noted that further details on new registrations for children within the 6 to 14 age group will be communicated in due course.

The first batch of districts for the issuance includes areas across all 16 regions, such as Asunafo South, Ajumaako Enyan Essiam, Effutu Municipal, Akuapem North, Ashaiman, Bolga Municipal, Takoradi, and Sefwi Akontombra, among others.

The exercise forms part of efforts by the NIA to ensure that all eligible Ghanaian children are captured in the national identification database.
