Award-winning Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has revealed how a trip to the Volta Region in 2016 transformed his entire music journey.

In an interview with media personality Doreen Avio on her YouTube show, the “Angela” hitmaker reflected on his early struggles and how his passion for music was nurtured in the church, where he honed his skills in playing multiple instruments. Despite gaining valuable musical experience, Kuami Eugene admitted that his time in the church offered little financial reward, barely covering transportation and food.

Everything changed after he embarked on an unplanned trip to the Volta Region with a friend. Kuami Eugene described the journey as a turning point that altered the course of his life.

Upon his return to Accra, he auditioned for the MTN Hitmaker reality show, where he finished as the second runner-up. That exposure led to his record deal with Lynx Entertainment, which became the springboard for his successful career.

Within his first year at Lynx, he won the VGMA Unsung Artiste of the Year, followed by New Artiste of the Year the next year, and ultimately the prestigious Artiste of the Year in his third year.

Although Kuami Eugene did not disclose the specific reason for his trip to Volta, he emphasized that the experience marked the beginning of his rise to stardom.
