Ghanaian music sensation Kuami Eugene has showered praise on fellow artist Amaarae, calling her a “legend” and applauding her unique talent that is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

In an interview with Doreen Avio, Kuami Eugene affectionately referred to Amaarae as his “big sister,” noting that while she has long been a powerful force in music, her brilliance had mostly resonated within niche circles—until recently.

“Amaarae is a legend, though. The funny thing is, it’s never been quiet with her—it’s just the circle she’s always operated in,” he said.

According to Kuami, Amaarae’s distinctive sound and artistic style, often rooted in global and alternative influences, initially didn’t appeal to the mainstream Ghanaian audience. But he’s thrilled to see her talent now reaching a wider stage.

“It’s a bit sad that people are only now discovering her. She’s been making waves for years. But I’m glad they are finally catching on because the talent she has is insane,” he added.

Amaarae, best known for her international hit “Sad Girlz Luv Money” featuring Kali Uchis and Moliy, continues to break boundaries in the alternative African pop scene. With her genre-bending sound and bold visuals, she has performed on major global stages and built a loyal international fanbase.

Kuami Eugene’s admiration highlights the growing respect and collaboration between mainstream and alternative artists in Ghana’s evolving music landscape.
