Ghanaian singer and producer Kuami Eugene has opened up about why he chose not to publicly announce his departure from Lynx Entertainment.

In an interview with Doreen Avio, the “Monica” hitmaker said he wanted to avoid the negativity that often follows such announcements in Ghana’s music industry.

“I noticed that when people leave record labels here, they often talk about bad experiences. That’s not something I wanted to be part of,” he explained.

Kuami Eugene revealed that discussions about his exit began during the release of “Monica” in 2023, and despite the transition, he remains grateful to Richie Mensah and the Lynx team for their support.

“Richie gave me his blessing and reminded me that I almost spent a decade with Lynx. That meant a lot,” he said.

The singer emphasized that there’s no bad blood between him and his former label. He recently attended Richie’s book launch and continues to stay in touch with the Lynx family.

“I hugged him like the father he’s been to me. He even texted to thank me for coming,” Kuami Eugene shared.

He urged fans to focus on his music, not drama.

“I just want people to enjoy ‘Belinda,’ ‘Monica,’ and my new song ‘Canopy’—that’s what really matters,” he added.

“Canopy,” his latest release, is a soulful, highlife-inspired track already gaining momentum on streaming platforms, reflecting his musical evolution post-Lynx.
