Veteran Ghanaian musician and self-proclaimed “Prince of Highlife,” K.K. Fosu, has hinted at an exciting evolution in his musical journey. He is gearing up to introduce a refreshing blend of sounds he calls Afro-Highlife — a genre that will shape his upcoming releases.

K.K. Fosu, known for timeless hits like “Anadwo Yede”, made this revelation during an interview with Tony Best on Akoma Mmre on Akoma FM in Kumasi on Wednesday, July 2.

Despite his relatively quiet presence in recent years, the highlife star clarified that he hasn’t stepped away from music. Instead, he’s been regrouping and refining his craft following a life-changing accident.

“I’ve always been active in music. My career slowed down after the accident, but I’ve recovered and I’m ready to announce my return. Very soon, I’ll be releasing new songs,” he shared.

K.K. Fosu noted that his version of highlife has always had a unique identity, setting it apart from traditional legends like Daddy Lumba.

“My style has always been different. People should get ready for my new Afro-highlife vibe.”

He explained that the difference between Afrobeat and Highlife is mostly in rhythm, adding that modern artists need to embrace marketing and social media to thrive.

“There’s really not much separating Afrobeat from Highlife—it’s just the rhythm. Today’s artists must leverage social media and focus on serious promotion if they want to succeed.”

With a renewed vision and a fresh sound on the horizon, fans can look forward to a dynamic comeback from one of Ghana’s most influential highlife voices.
