The Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service have launched joint intelligence-led operations in the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions to arrest individuals linked to recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), police officers, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials.
According to a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the swoops—conducted in Dadwene and Anwona (Ashanti), Ehi (Volta), and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani (Ahafo)—began at dawn on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The GAF and Police warned that anyone who obstructs their anti-galamsey operations or any lawful duty will face the full force of the law. They also assured the public of safety and urged residents to remain calm.
