In a contentious legal battle over an ongoing defamation case, gospel singer Empress Gifty and controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa eventually faced off, raising tensions at the Tema High Court. The highly anticipated meeting attracted public interest, with fans, the media, and interested bystanders anxious to see the most recent development in the acrimonious rivalry between the two famous personalities.
The courtroom drama is based on a defamation lawsuit that Empress Gifty filed, alleging that Nana Agradaa, whose actual name is Patricia Asiedua, published false and hurtful remarks about her on social media. The gospel singer claims in court filings that Agradaa’s comments have damaged her reputation, caused her emotional distress, and impacted her brand ties.

Empress Gifty arrived to the court grounds with her legal team looking calm, dressed modestly but confidently. Supporters and her own legal team accompanied Nana Agradaa, who is renowned for her fearless demeanor and direct approach, as she made a separate entry. As they entered the courtroom, the two, who have exchanged acrimonious remarks online in the past, avoided making direct eye contact.
The judge overseeing the case inside asked all sides to maintain civility and let due process play out. The court heard preliminary arguments and considered evidence, including social media posts and video recordings that Empress Gifty’s team submitted, but no final decision was made.

Because of the high-profile character of the parties involved as well as the growing concern over cyberbullying, defamation, and the misuse of social media by Ghanaian celebrities, the case has attracted a lot of public attention.
Both sides are anticipated to return after the hearing has been postponed for more proceedings. Fans and detractors are still debating who is correct and what this case can signal for public accountability in Ghana’s digital sphere on social media.
