The final funeral rites of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba have been rescheduled following a family dispute over the late artist’s burial arrangements.

Originally slated for 6 December 2025, the funeral has now been moved to 13 December 2025, according to decisions made at a meeting at the Manhyia Palace on 10 November 2025. The session, convened by sub-chiefs of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, also saw the dissolution of the existing funeral committee and the ordering of a new autopsy for the late musician.

The postponement follows disagreements between Daddy Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Fosuh (also known as Akosua Brimpongmaa), and the family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, regarding the funeral proceedings. The matter was brought before the Manhyia Palace for resolution, reflecting the significance of traditional protocols in the conduct of high-profile funerals in the Ashanti Region.

Fans of the late artist have expressed both concern and anticipation as they await the new date, with many taking to social media to share tributes and memories of Daddy Lumba’s legendary contributions to Ghanaian music.

The rescheduled funeral, now set for 13 December 2025, will mark the culmination of the elaborate rites honoring one of Ghana’s most celebrated musical icons.
