Taylor Schabusiness a Wisconsin woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the killing and dismemberment of her former boyfriend, Shad Tyrion, in February 2022. A Brown County judge delivered the sentence after Schabusiness was convicted by a jury in July of first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual assault, and mutilating a corpse.
Taylor Schabusiness had pleaded not guilty and also not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, but the jury determined that she was not mentally ill at the time of the crime.

According to prosecutors, Schabusiness and Thyrion had used methamphetamine together in the basement of Thyrion’s mother’s home in Green Bay before Schabusiness strangled, decapitated, and dismembered him. She then scattered parts of his body throughout the house and a vehicle. Thyrion’s mother discovered her son’s head in a bucket in the basement, leading to Schabusiness’s arrest on February 23, 2022.
Brown County Circuit Judge Thomas Walsh, before delivering the sentence, emphasized the severity of the crime, stating that “the offense in this case can’t be overstated.” He described the actions as shocking and foreign to the community, acknowledging the difficulty in finding words to describe them.
Schabusiness’s defense attorney, Christopher Froelich, argued that she is not a monster and suggested that, at 25 years old, there is still potential for her rehabilitation. However, when given the opportunity to speak on her own behalf, Schabusiness declined, simply stating, “No, there isn’t.”
