Ghanaian singer-songwriter Cina Soul, born Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome, has officially lodged a complaint with the Ghana Police Service after actor Big Akwes made what she described as disturbing death threats against her during a live television broadcast.

The alarming incident occurred during a segment on Bryt TV, where Big Akwes was asked to choose who he would “marry, kiss, or kill” among evangelist Nana Agradaa, actress Vivian Jill, and Cina Soul. His shocking response? That he would use juju to summon Cina Soul’s spirit and stab her to death—a statement that has sparked outrage across social media and beyond.

Reacting swiftly, Cina Soul took to X (formerly Twitter) on July 1, 2025, to express her fear and concern:

“I’m deeply unsettled by this… I feel genuinely threatened.”

She called on the Ghana Police, Media Minister Sam George, and the Ministry of Communications (MoC) to take action, warning that such violent rhetoric should never be allowed to air unchecked:

“It’s critical we take a firm stance against this kind of dangerous rhetoric being broadcast… We must not normalize hate.”

Cina Soul also stressed the urgent need for stronger regulation of media content, especially platforms that permit threatening and abusive speech.

Since her post, fans, civil society groups, and fellow artists have flooded social media with messages of solidarity and support, urging authorities to treat the case with the seriousness it deserves.
