Mzbel, the Ghanaian Hiplife musician and entrepreneur, has stepped into the discussion her son, Kwame Adepa, initiated about God, religion, and creation. Adepa shared his perspective, stating that he doesn’t believe humans were created by God, but rather born to fellow humans. He emphasized that he attributes his existence to his mother, Mzbel, rather than a supernatural being.
Adepa’s comments ignited conversations on social media, with some applauding his intelligence at such a young age, while others questioned Mzbel’s parenting. In response, Mzbel defended her son’s statement and clarified that they do not believe in the existence of an Almighty God.
She explained their belief that everything with life, no matter how big or small, is considered a god. When they pour libation (pray), they acknowledge and honor all these energies or gods. Mzbel emphasized the importance of understanding their ancestors’ role and the energy that runs through them.
Mzbel encouraged her followers to reflect on their faith and religion, suggesting that they ask themselves important questions and patiently wait for answers from within. She shared the belief that everyone has a connection to the divine and should spend time in quiet reflection to discover it.
In the podcast that initiated this discussion, Mzbel’s son also revealed his religious beliefs as a traditionalist who pours libation, distancing himself from Christianity.
