Workers in the United Kingdom who were expecting protection against unfair dismissal from their very first day on the job have had their hopes dashed. The UK government has backtracked on the plan, announcing that employees will now need to complete six months before claiming unfair dismissal. The reversal comes after pressure in Parliament, with officials saying the change is necessary to get the Employment Rights Bill through. While some day-one rights like sick leave and paternity leave remain, the key protection against immediate unfair dismissal has been dropped. The decision has sparked outrage among UK MPs, trade unions, and…
The UK government has announced that the controversial two-child benefit cap will be abolished — a move expected to take effect from April 2026. Under the old rule (introduced in 2017), families receiving Universal Credit or Child Tax Credit could claim child-related benefits for only their first two children. Any third or subsequent child would no longer qualify. The decision to end the cap comes after sustained pressure from campaigners, charities, and backbench politicians, who argued the policy unfairly penalised larger families and contributed to child poverty. What It Means for Families An estimated 560,000 families are set to benefit,…

From early morning, tractors rolled slowly on A-roads, and in some places, convoys extended for miles, marking one of the broadest coordinated agricultural protests in recent British history. Protesters are mobilizing in response to a proposed reform due to take…
