The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced his death in a post on social media Tuesday, calling him “a steadfast guardian of his father’s legacy. “Michael Reagan lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagan’s ideals,” according to his foundation. Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa, who represented a Northern California district, has died at the age of 65. LaMalfa has represented California’s 1st Congressional District since 2013, having previously served in the California State Assembly and Senate. He sat on the Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. Doug LaMalfa was a fourth-generation rice farmer and lifelong resident of Northern California. The new variant of Influenza A, or H3N2, successfully dubbed ‘super flu,’ has caused hospitalizations to nearly double in a week, the CDC reported. Flu is surging across the U.S., sending thousands more people to the hospital and hitting young children especially hard, as doctors warn the season still has a long way to go.
