The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged its support for several flagship initiatives under the Mahama administration.

According to him, the projects set to benefit from AfDB’s backing include the Big Push, the 24-Hour Economy Policy, Feed Ghana, and the 1-Million Coders program.

Mr. Ablakwa made this known after holding a meeting with Eyerusalem Fasika, the Country Manager of AfDB, on Thursday, November 6.

He described the engagement as “very good,” revealing that the AfDB has just approved a US$70 million grant to support youth empowerment initiatives targeted at young people across the five regions of Northern Ghana.

“I am also particularly delighted that the AfDB remains committed to the Lagos-Abidjan Road Network and the Eastern Corridor project which has portions going through my beloved constituency,” Mr. Ablakwa wrote on his Facebook page.

The AfDB currently has over US$600 million invested in active projects across Ghana, spanning infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social development.

Mr. Ablakwa commended the bank’s continuous contribution to Ghana’s growth and emphasized the importance of deepening strategic partnerships to accelerate national priorities.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening engagement with AfDB to advance shared development goals.
