The Ghana Highway Authority, representing the Ministry of Roads and Highways, has announced a temporary traffic management plan to facilitate construction work on the Accra–Tema Motorway and its extensions. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

According to a recent press release from the Authority, this traffic management arrangement is critical for executing T-beam launching operations at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge (N1). This upgrade is part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow on the busy route.

As part of the new traffic scheme, the N4 Northbound Carriageway, which runs from Accra to Madina, will experience temporary lane closures to accommodate the ongoing construction activities. Simultaneously, the Southbound Carriageway will be modified from four lanes to two lanes in each direction, ensuring that traffic continues to move both ways throughout the construction period.

The changes will come into effect on Monday, March 9, 2026, and are expected to last approximately four months. This temporary arrangement is deemed essential to provide a safe working environment for construction workers while maintaining the safety of motorists on the route.

The Ghana Highway Authority is urging all drivers to exercise caution, follow traffic signs diligently, and cooperate with traffic management officials during this time. For additional inquiries, members of the public can reach the Public Affairs Division of the Ghana Highway Authority via WhatsApp at 0551622244.
