The Gomoa Easter Carnival, a vibrant initiative spearheaded by Gomoa Central Member of Parliament Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly known as A Plus, has officially been launched.

Set to take place from April 2 to 5, 2026, the festival will unfold across various communities in the Gomoa district of the Central Region.

The launch event, held at Labadi Beach Hotel on March 4, 2026, saw a gathering of notable figures, including prominent players from the creative arts sector, local politicians, traditional leaders, media representatives, and members of the business community.

This four-day event promises an exciting lineup, featuring three days packed with musical performances from some of Ghana’s leading artists alongside emerging talents from the surrounding area.

In addition to live music, the carnival will offer a range of engaging activities such as a barbecue and bonfire session, an art exhibition, a food bazaar, masquerade displays, and a grand durbar celebrating local traditions.

In his address during the launch, A Plus outlined the festival’s planned activities, stating, “Day one will kick off with a welcome night, featuring a relaxed bonfire at Crown Forest Hotel. On Friday, we’ll move to Elwamkrom Jukwa for the official opening ceremony, followed by the vendors’ operations across the festival grounds.”

A Plus enthusiastically shared that the evening will feature a classic highlife session at the Ekwamkrom Community Park alongside an impressive display of cultural heritage with chiefs arriving in palanquins, accompanied by traditional drumming and dancing. The celebration will culminate with performances from popular university jama groups and a high-energy concert featuring top artists like Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, and Bisa K Dei.

Encouraging public participation, A Plus urged, “Come to Gomoa, believe in Gomoa, and invest in Gomoa.”

During the launch, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Abla Dzifa Gomashie emphasized the importance of the festival, urging public support for the Gomoa Easter Carnival. She recognized the event as a pivotal opportunity to showcase the Central Region as a cultural hub of Ghana. “Let us present our authentic selves; the world is ready for what is uniquely Ghanaian,” she stated, highlighting the carnival’s potential to boost the local economy.

The Gomoa Easter Carnival is proudly sponsored by Hotwav in collaboration with Multimedia Group Limited, positioning it as an exciting addition to Ghana’s festive calendar.
