Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has suggested that the funeral of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba be postponed for a year due to ongoing disputes within the family.
Speaking on United Showbiz on Saturday, November 16, 2025, Kumchacha said the persistent wrangling, particularly the renewed controversy over an alleged GH₵30,000 withdrawal by the family head, has created needless tension at a time when preparations were nearing completion.
“If not that the elders have already fixed the funeral for December 13, I wish the funeral could be postponed for a year. Daddy Lumba should remain in the mortuary for a year so all these shenanigans can cool down,” he said.
According to him, the latest disagreement resurfaced just when arrangements were almost finalized, frustrating supporters and fueling public criticism of the funeral planning process.
Kumchacha questioned the explanation given by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, who reportedly withdrew GH₵30,000, claiming expenses on a goat and money given to the late musician’s wives. The prophet argued that such responsibilities naturally fall on the family head.
“He says he used the money to buy a goat and take care of the wives. What if that money wasn’t available? He said he even went for a loan. That GH₵30,000 could have been kept somewhere safe so no one would touch it,” he added.
He further claimed that the family head has been linked to controversies from the start of the funeral preparations, a situation he says has discouraged many well-wishers from offering their support.
“People have been tagging him with problems since day one. Many people have already given up on the funeral. I believe people will still attend, but the numbers would have been much higher without all these controversies,” he stressed.
