The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans for all its presidential aspirants to sign a peace pact ahead of the upcoming presidential primaries.
The decision, according to the Presidential Elections Committee of the party, is to ensure a peaceful, transparent and fair process before, during, and after the elections.
In a statement released in Accra, the Committee said the peace accord is part of efforts to promote party unity and uphold the NPP’s democratic values. The signing ceremony is expected to be witnessed by senior party officials, the clergy, and representatives from the National Peace Council.
The Committee explained that all aspirants and their campaign teams are expected to commit to running issue-based campaigns and refrain from personal attacks or actions that could disrupt party cohesion.
The NPP’s presidential primaries are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, as the party seeks to elect a flagbearer to lead it into the 2028 general elections.
The Elections Committee assured delegates and the public that all logistical and security arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
