The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in collaboration with Asamoah Gyan and his representatives, will soon announce full details of a testimonial match in honor of the legendary striker.
The event will serve as a fitting tribute to one of Ghana’s greatest-ever footballers — a player whose name is deeply etched in the nation’s sporting history.
Affectionately known as “Baby Jet,” Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 51 goals in 109 appearances for the Black Stars. He also holds the record as Africa’s top scorer in FIFA World Cup history, netting six goals across three tournaments — Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, and Brazil 2014.
Gyan’s illustrious club career spanned several continents. He began with Liberty Professionals in Ghana before moving to Udinese in Italy, later featuring for Modena, Rennes, and Sunderland in the English Premier League. His global journey continued in the Middle East and Asia, where he became a star at Al Ain and Al Ahli in the UAE, as well as Shanghai SIPG in China and Kayserispor in Turkey. He eventually concluded his playing career with Legon Cities FC in Ghana.
Renowned for his skill, leadership, and charisma, Asamoah Gyan’s influence extends far beyond the pitch, inspiring millions of fans across Africa and beyond.
The upcoming testimonial promises to be a memorable celebration of his remarkable journey — honouring a true icon whose goals, passion, and personality helped shape the story of Ghanaian football.
