The US government has been making changes since the Trump administration came to power. They have brought up “the beautiful bill”, deported many illegals, Trump card, changed up Nonimmigrant duration and policies.
The change in nonimmigrant duration has really affected Nigeria with it being one of the firsts to be hit. The bill is to reduce the number of illegals and immigrants.
Visiting visas which were from 3 months – 5 years will now change to only allowing 3 months single entry visitation. This policy is subject to on going review and may change depending on some evolving factors of Nigeria.
This is as a result of the global reciprocity alignment project, a twist from the visa visitation duration which allowed multiple entries for 2 years or more.
The policy works closely with Nigerian authorities to manage the: visa overstays, increase safety through sharing criminal files, secure documents.
The policy may help the US in deterring others from overstaying there.
