Music icon Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found guilty of transportation for the purpose of prostitution, but cleared of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking involving ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and another woman identified as “Jane.”
The verdict was delivered after nearly two months of intense courtroom proceedings, which featured 34 witnesses, including ex-partners, former staff, federal agents, and male escorts.
According to BBC reporter Sakshi Venkatraman, Combs maintained a stoic expression as the verdict was read, though he was seen praying with his children beforehand.
Although acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking, Combs faces sentencing for the transportation to engage in prostitution charges — an offense that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. He has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024.
Judge Arun Subramanian thanked the jurors for their dedication and reminded them of their right to speak to the media — though he encouraged discretion and respect for the deliberation process. He expressed a desire to meet and personally thank them for their service.
Emotional Scenes in Court
The courtroom was filled with emotion as the verdict was read. BBC correspondent Madeline Halpert reported that Combs appeared deeply relieved at the outcome, as he faced far graver charges.
His lawyer, Teny Geragos, was visibly emotional, wiping away tears after hearing the final decision. Combs repeatedly looked toward the jury and his family, pressing his hands together in a prayer gesture. At one point, he placed his hands over his face, then lifted them in the air in what appeared to be a moment of private gratitude.
The sentencing date has not yet been announced.
