Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty has achieved her first major win in her ongoing defamation lawsuit against televangelist Evangelist Mama Pat, popularly known as Agradaa.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Tema High Court dismissed Agradaa’s application to strike out the defamation suit filed by Empress Gifty, ruling that the motion had no merit and that the case must proceed. The court further awarded Empress Gifty GH₵6,000 for what it described as unnecessary delays caused by Agradaa’s legal team.
This victory comes after Empress Gifty filed the suit over alleged defamatory claims made by Agradaa, including accusations that the “Watch Me” hitmaker was HIV positive.
Following the court’s decision, Empress Gifty was seen jubilating outside the Tema High Court. A video captured the gospel singer smiling and celebrating with a crowd of enthusiastic supporters who gathered in the court’s parking lot to cheer her on.
Clearly overjoyed, Empress Gifty paused to take photos and interact with her fans before leaving the premises with her husband, Hopeson Adorye, and her manager.
The case is expected to continue in the coming weeks as the legal battle unfolds.
