Bryan Acheampong Announces Bid to Lead NPP in 2028
Abetifi MP and Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has officially declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He made the announcement at a community event in his constituency. Speaking to supporters, Dr. Acheampong said he is ready to lead the party into the future and serve the country at the highest level.
“I believe the time has come to bring new energy, innovation, and leadership to our great party and to Ghana as a whole. I am ready to serve,” he told a cheering crowd.
As Agriculture Minister, Dr. Acheampong has earned recognition for advancing food security and supporting farmers. His role in the Akufo-Addo administration has made him a key figure in national development.
His early declaration, nearly three years before the elections, is seen as a strategic move. It gives him time to build support, strengthen grassroots connections, and prepare his campaign.
Political analysts believe this early start could give him an advantage in rallying support and forming strong alliances.
Dr. Acheampong joins a growing list of NPP hopefuls aiming to lead the party after President Akufo-Addo’s tenure. Many party members have praised his decision, calling it bold, forward-looking, and timely.
