The father of popular Ghanaian TikTok star GhKobby, real name Hayford Boateng, has made a shocking statement following his son’s arrest for allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend, Philipa Frimpong, also known as Yaa Baby.
In a widely circulated video, GhKobby’s father visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and called for peace as they prepare for Yaa Baby’s burial. During the visit, he stunned many by saying he believes his son’s current detention is justified, stating, “Yaa Baby didn’t deserve to die, so wherever my son is, he should stay there.”
Despite the painful circumstances, the late Yaa Baby’s family has agreed to allow GhKobby’s family to be involved in the burial arrangements—an effort seen as a step toward reconciliation.
The case has sparked national outrage and emotional responses online, with many Ghanaians mourning the tragic loss of two well-known young figures in the social media space.
