Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian dancehall star, has responded to speculation that Black Sherif made subtle jabs at him in his latest album, Iron Boy.
The controversy erupted following the release of the track Where Them Boyz from Black Sherif’s Iron Boy album. In the song, the rapper criticizes certain musicians for their lack of authenticity. Although no specific names were mentioned, many fans assumed the lyrics were directed at Shatta Wale.
The rumors spread quickly on social media, thanks in large part to the two artists’ strained relationship. Shatta Wale previously openly criticized Black Sherif’s fashion choices while appearing on Glitch Africa’s Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast. He also made social media comments implying that he could end Black Sherif’s career, leading many to believe there was ongoing conflict between the two.
Shatta Wale took to social media to refute the rumours, claiming that Black Sherif had never treated him disrespectfully. He dismissed the speculation as baseless, claiming that it was being fuelled by people with nothing better to do.
He also praised Iron Boy, calling it a powerful album and urging Black Sherif to remain focused and ignore negativity. “I am only concerned with making money and have no time for unnecessary drama,” he stated, adding that those making false claims were simply unemployed.
Iron Boy, which will be released on April 3, 2025, includes 15 tracks exploring themes of struggle, hope, and resilience. Ar Beats, Joker Nharnah, and Samsney co-produced the album, which features collaborations with Nigerian artists Fireboy DML and Seyi Vibez. Samuel Sarpong and Mike Seaberg handled the final mix.
Shatta Wale’s response has put an end to the speculation, reaffirming his commitment to his music and business rather than engaging in unnecessary industry rivalries.
